Guided by the stars more than 3000 years ago, Polynesian ancestors made their way across the Pacific in ocean-faring canoes to Samoa – there’s an ancient energy to these islands that you feel as soon as your feet hit the ground. We explored the island of Upulo during our adventure – the 75-kilometre island was formed from a massive, basaltic shield volcano which rises from the ocean floor.

It’s hard not to marvel at the diversity of environment, no matter where you look the island is beaming with natural beauty. It’s one of those places that feels like a true disconnect from routine. Just kick off your shoes and in no time you’ll be on island time. And after a day of waves and adventures, there’s no better place to celebrate the good times with a few ice-cold Coronas on sunset.
